(More customer reviews)I use my tools heavily.We had a special project on which we needed 3 new battery powered drills.I bought this kit that had the 2 Makita drills in it and a Black and Decker drill.All of the drills have 18 volt lithium batteries.We used each drill doing the same task for the same amount of time over 3 contiuous days.The B&D battery had to be recharged after each day.The Makita batteries went all 3 days without a charge and still had a lot of power left.

One of the Makita batteries was also used to saw thru some 2X4s with the sawsall.I have a Makita AC powered sawsall and the new battery powered unit is as powerful as the AC unit.The battery powered sawsall has a new blade changing feature which makes blade changing super easy because no tools are envolved.

The bag that comes with the kit is really heavy duty and should last for years.It is big enough to add a lot of other stuff if you need to.It is so well made and nice looking, you may want to use it as a travel bag instead of a tool hauler.

(More customer reviews)The drill is powerful and the hammer action is good for cement and brick fastner drilling.My only gripe is the chuck doesn't bite as hard as my Dewalt.The impact fastner is a beast!Light compact and battery last a really long time.I'm a general contractor and have Dewalt and Milwaukee lithium tools to compare.Makita and Dewalt win this round of lithium tools. Tool quality is excellent.The LED light and belt clip are handy.

This tool has gotten fantastic reviews.Ignore the few bad ones.This tool is heavy duty and can handle my punishment as a contractor.We use it every day.It is not made for computer nerds that can build computers yet complain about the reverse switch.

It's amazing how ignorant some customers can be.
"The tool is too powerful and strips screws".....really?? It is a heavy duty tool with over 1330 in.lbs of torque.
"It is less powerful than my Milwaukee 28Volt".......really?Wanna compare apples to oranges?

(More customer reviews)I bought these Milwaukee tools because we are building a house.And let me tell you tell you one thing about them they are the best set of cordless tool that I have every bought.I love the fact that the batteries last so long.I can use the circular say for about 2-3 hours on one battery.As long as I don't bog down the saw.If I bind the blade and bog down the saw the battery will only last about 30 min to 1 hour.But I'm still impressed with the longevity of the batteries.I can use the drill for way over 3 hours of constant use with just one battery.We put our whole propanel roof on our house (Over 5000 square feet of roof), and I only used about 4 batteries.

It took me a lot of time to decide between the Makita's and the Milwaukee's.But my father in-law has already had to replace the transmission in his Makita and hasn't had to touch his Milwaukee's.And he bought them at the same time.So that pushed me towards the Milwaukee's.

My wife even enjoys using my drill because it is so light weight.And you can even buy the smaller battery and the drill gets even lighter.She doesn't have any problems running any of the tools for the life of the battery.And that definitely a good thing.If the tools are too heavy you don't want to carries them around all day.

I was very impressed with amazon's price.I searched all over the internet and couldn't find any cheaper.So if you are looking for a good 18 volt cordless tool kit this is one of the best for the money in my eyes.But the only suggestion that I could make is if you have the money go a head and upgrade to the 28 volt Milwaukee's.The batteries last much longer and the tools have more power.But the 18 volts are a very good tool.

(More customer reviews)I'd like to give this combo 5 stars, but it has a few minuses that knock it down a star.

First the positives:
- The drill is very nice. It has good power and good balance. The belt hook works fine, can be set to hang on the left or the right, and if you don't like it you can take it off.
- The saw is good. It has a LH blade which is great for us right-handers. Its 61/2" blade lets you cut 2X lumber at 45 degrees.
- The light is really nice. The little LED turns on when the battery get too low to keep the florescent bulb lit, and the LED give you enough light to change the battery. Its handle can be set to several angles and it will hang over large pipes. This light is also great for camping.
- The recip saw works fine.Plenty of power to do the kind of rough, hack it up kinda cuts you make with a recip saw. The blade chuck holds the blades securely yet you can change blades quickly.
- The bag is even good. It's very heavy duty with plenty of room to store this kit with room left over.

Now, the negatives:
- Unlike most other Hitachi 61/2" saws, this one does not have a built-in light. The light is a really nice feature of other Hitachi saws that you don't think you need until you have it.
- The drill's belt clip lacks a light; other Hitachi drills have a light in their belt clip.
- The charger included with this kit is not as good as some of the other Hitachi chargers. It charges the batteries fast enough (40 minutes), but for some reason the batteries are only rated for 300 cycles when charged by the UC18YG charger included in this kit, vs 1000 cycles when charged with the UC24YFA or UC24YJ chargers.

I've been reading a lot of Hitachi reviews that have said the batteries won't hold a charge. I have 10 Hitachi batteries: 3 are the 3AHr NiMH batteries and 7 are the 2AHr NiCads. They all seem to hold a charge just fine. The flashlight in this kit is great for discharging the batteries all the way before recharging. A battery will still light the flashlight quite a while after the battery seems to be "dead" in one of the tools.

In conclusion, it's a good kit, and a good value. Hitachi dropped a few features with the tools in this kit to save some bucks.

(More customer reviews)Over the years i have used nearly every brand of cordless tool imaginable.There has always been advantages and disadvantages to each.Not with the Makita LXT line though.I own the Drill/Driver and the impact driver and each is everything advertised.They are lighter than other 18v models. They are tough, the battery charge lasts at least twice as long as any I have ever used and four times longer than the craftsman I upgraded from.If you can swallow the price, buy this tool it is worth every penny.

(More customer reviews)First of all, this is an OUTSTANDING Drill/driver combo! I want to point out to all who have read reviews about the batteries being poor that the ones who have written those reviews have neglected to point out that the batteries that come with the set are 1.5 amp hour batteries.The 3.0 Amph batteries are sold with a seperate combo set (LXT-202) which is nearly twice the price. So, OBVIOUSLY they are not going to last as long.The benefit of the 1.5 amp batts. is that the drill is MUCH lighter, and since you can recharge the battery in fifteen min. its not an issue. The exception would be DAILY contractors. In addition, since you have 2 batteries you're not gonna have any down time. I just recently built a 10x12 pergola that included 4x6 posts, 2x10 beams and 2x8 rafters in about 3 days and I charged a battery three times during that span. Never once was a battery dying ever an issue during the construction. If you really NEED to, you can purchase 2 additional batteries for around 80 bucks and you would still be about $100 under the LXT combo set. You could even purchase the 3.0 amph batteries for this set if you wanted (they're interchangable!!). To give this combo set 2 stars because a reviewer neglects to take in account value in proportionate to functionality does a disservice to us all.If you're like me, a very busy DIY'er, this combo set is perfect! It's by far my favorite and most useful tool around the house. Here is somthing else to chew on.I bought my set for $180 online about a year ago(that included s&h) and now I haven't seen this set for under $250 (NEW, not refurbished).Hmmmm, I wonder why?It must be those terrible batteries;) One more thing, if you watch alot of home improvement tv shows, look closely.Several of the contractors on the show have this exact combo set sitting in the background and/or being used in plane sight. If its good enough for them..... I hope this review has more accuratly explained this product and what it has to offer.The only dissappointment is that I can no longer get this for $180 for my friends :(
