(More customer reviews)I have had two Makita 9.6 volt drills for nearly 20 years.Both still work as well as the day I purchased them. I added keyless chucks to the drills several years ago when Makita began offering after-market chucks. The batteries on average have lasted over ten years before they neededreplacement.When I purchased the Makita drill it was the very bestcordless drill on the market, but has since slipped.The two speed systemshould be upgraded to a total variable speed for driving screws.The drillhas sufficent power for most household needs, but falls short when drillingheavy loads such as deck screws.The balance is good and the drill feelsvery natural in the hand. Considering the price of the drill is almost thesame as 20 years ago it is now a bargain.My drills have been dropped,knocked around, used in the hottest heat of the summer and cold of thewinter.They have drilled thousands of screws and holes.In my opinionthe durability of the Makita drill is without question. For normalhousehold use this is a very good drill. I highly recommend the Makita 9.6volt drill.
